REM Jones Semi final
Match Report
Y Glannau 2 Nfa 0
What a fantastic afternoon for Y Glannau, we were excellent from the first minute until the last minute. Management got the tactics absolutely spot on today and we fully deserve our spot in the final.
We started well today pressing well as a team and we didn’t give Nfa a second on the ball.
We played some lovely football today knocking the ball around so well.
Nfa struggled to get going, their best moments were out wide but the balls into the box were all flashed across the box with their strikers unable to get the touch to put them ahead.
Nfa did miss a huge chance after 20 minutes, Niall was played in for Nfa but his shot went well over.
We thought we went 1-0 up after Harrison got in behind and finished well but his attempt was ruled out for offside and the game remained 0-0.
Moments later Harrison picked up the ball down the left, he cut in and played a great ball across the goal, Macca met it but their keeper made a great save, the rebound then fell to Macca but his shot went wide.
We went 1-0 up after 30 minutes, a quick throw was taken, Tawse then crossed the ball which fell to Harrison who got the ball under control after a great touch, then finished well.
It was good to see both teams playing good football and knocking the ball around well. The game remained 1-0 going in at half time.
Half time
Y Glannau 1 Nfa 0
Nfa came out second half and almost equalised after a great move was almost finished off but for the second time in the game, Niall put his shot wide.
We were still pressing well Aaron and Harrison leading the press, a block from pressing by Aaron almost caused chaos but the Nfa defence eventually got rid.
Alec picked up the ball and went close from distance but it was met with a great save from the Nfa keeper.
It was then Nfa’s turn to attack as they broke well, again it was a good move but the final shot was very well saved by Brad.
Brad then tipped a free kick over the bar (great save).
Our defence was defending so well, Kyle and Chris were not letting anyone through.
After 72 minutes we made it 2-0 Alec with the throw, Harrison with the flick on, the ball fell to Chris Mcquillen (Macca) who then smashed home.
We knew we were close now but we still had 20 minutes to see out, our midfielder were battling so well, they held the ball up well and won corners and free kicks to manage the game well.
Nfa had one late chance which was a header at the back post it was saved again by Brad then the rebound was blocked on the line by a Nfa player.
The game then shortly ended.

Thank you to our main sponsors Fratelli sports and to The Barrow – St Asaph for the hospitality after the game.
Thank you to our supporters who came out to watch today, it was such a massive help having so many people cheer you on.
It has been confirmed that we will play league leaders Abergele in the REM Jones cup final, the date is tbc.
What a brilliant performance, we’ve had a lot of bad luck lately conceding late goals to lose games late on but today we stay focused to get a massive win. A clean sheet as well in a semi final was unreal.
