Match report

Y Glannau 5 Penrhyn Bay 0

The first 25 minutes of the game was rather frustrating, neither team could really get going, some of our build up play was good but the final ball was always over hit.
We looked comfortable first half but we wasn’t creating enough chances to cause Penrhyn Bay problems.
We did take the lead after 30 minutes after some good play down the right from Alec and Chris Bower, it then led to Chris putting a lovely ball into the box and Harrison was there running onto it and finishing it well 1-0.
Once that first goal went in we started to knock the ball around with more confidence and it didn’t take long for us to double our lead after a lovely through ball from Tomos put Harrison in on goal and Harrison finished well dinking it over their keeper 2-0.

Half time

Y Glannau 2 Penrhyn Bay 0

We started the second half so so well, we pressed so much better and we were absolutely ruthless scoring 3 goals in the first 9 minutes of the second half.
Our third goal of the game came after a lovely ball from Ged put in Harrison to finish really well into the bottom left corner 3-0.
Chris Bower picked up a loose ball from 35 yards out and struck a great effort at goal, which needed tipping over by the Penrhyn bay keeper.
Chris Bower was in the thick of the action again as he won the ball back then put a shot/cross into the danger area, Alec was alert and back heeled the ball into the back of the net 4-0.
Straight from the kick off we won the ball back and once again Ged put through Harrison and he was in ruthless form and he lashed home his 4th goal of the game and our 5th.
Brad didn’t have a lot to do today but Penrhyn Bay never stopped battling and a ball fell to their midfielder in the box who caught his shot well but Brad was there to make a stunning save.
We made a few changes to keep everything fresh and we created a lot of other chances, Pesk picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and hit a strike against the post.
Aaron then picked the ball up on the left and played in Harrison who then crossed for Macca but his shot went wide.

Thank you to our main sponsor Fratelli sports and thank you to The Barrow – St Asaph for the hospitality and lovely fresh sandwiches after todays game.
Good luck to Penrhyn Bay Football Club for the rest of the season. Apart from a bad first 10 minutes at the start of the second half they battled very well, number 6 (Ethan Hill) had a very good game, very calm on the ball and played some great through balls.
Next week we face Nfa for the third time in 6 weeks, this time away from home, more information on this fixture to come in the week.
Thank you to our supporters who came out to cheer us on in awful conditions.
Honestly we do really appreciate it.
Thank you to Hayden Nicholls who was on the touchline in awful conditions, taking some fantastic photos for the team.
When we do our match reports some defenders don’t get a mention or the credit they deserve, so just a few mentions firstly to Gaz Evans who made his first start today for us and completed 90 minutes getting a clean sheet.
Kyle and Chris have been excellent at the back and they are forming a great partnership, that’s back to back clean sheets for them.
Finally we just want to wish Michael Bellis a speedy recovery, he puts ???? in every week but today had to go off after 20 minutes after going over on his ankle, hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
Up Y Glannau
❤️????
