Match Report

Having a free week last week did us the world of good, a fortnight ago we played and lost to Nfa 3-0, that day we were awful. Today we responded really well, every player gave ???? and on another day we come away with the 3 points.
Abergele started the brighter but the first big chance of the game fell to Joey as he was found by Harrison near the penalty spot, the ball bobbled up and Joey hit his effort over the bar.
Abergele went 1-0 up after a ball in was nodded home by Liam Roberts. ( Liam loves scoring past Y Glannau ????)
The rest of the half was very close neither team really threatening, Harrison set up Tawse from distance his shot going just wide, then Ged played in Harrison but out came the Gele keeper Cain Folly to make a brilliant last ditch tackle to stop Harrison getting his shot off.

Half time

Abergele 1 Y Glannau 0

At half time we knew we had to do more but we also knew we were playing quite well, we were still very confident that we could get a result.
We started the second half so well, creating a few half chances and winning several consecutive corners.
We were pressing well and Abergele couldn’t get going.
10 minutes into the second half and we were level, Ged pressed to win the ball back blocking the Gele pass, Joey then won the flick on and Harrison turned to prod home. ( That goal was Harrison’s 50th of the season in all competitions, superb young man ????????????)
Our tails were up now and we looked like scoring every time we went forward, Joey played a ball over the top, the Gele defender pulled Harrison back as he was clean through, Harrison carried on and broke into the box getting his shot off but it was saved well, the ball then fell to Macca who hit the cross bar from 5 yards out. ( We all thought it was in, that’s when we started to think it was not going to be our day yet again)
Macca then put a corner into the box and Joey won the header, it looked like it was going in but it was cleared off the line by the Abergele defender.
We finally took the lead after 75 minutes, Alec with the free kick into the box, Joey with the flick on and the ball fell to Kyle Hedge to turn and smash in 1-2.
All credit to Abergele though, they did what champions do and responded within 2 minutes, a great ball in was volleyed in at the back post by the Abergele substitute Ricci Thomas 2-2.
Abergele then turned the game on its head to go 3-2 up this time Jack Hoult with the finish, the Abergele celebrations were wild.
The game was getting fiesty, big strong tackles flying in from both teams, yellow cards were getting handed out left right and centre, with 3 minutes to play Abergele were reduced to ten men after a silly tackle from the Abergele substitute Tommy Lloyd seen his 5 minute cameo brought to an end.
Into stoppage we went and won a free kick out on the right, substitute Josh Mac stood over it and his wicked ball in went all the way in, Tom Jones did throw himself at the ball but didn’t get a touch on it. This time it was our turn to go wild 3-3.

It was a great game of football, the pressure was all on Abergele as it’s them chasing the title, they are still in a nice spot but they now have work to do in their last 3 games as Bow, Nfa and Llandudno are closing the gap.
For us we just wanted to give ???? and give it our all and we did that today. We created enough chances to win the game but it wasn’t to be.
We face Abergele at the end of the month once again, this time though in the REM Jones Cup final, what a game that is going to be.
Good luck to Abergele in their quest of winning the title.
Thank you to our supporters who came out to watch us today.
Thank you to our main sponsor Fratelli sports.
Next week we are away to Bow in a league fixture, more information to come in the week.
Up Y Glannau
❤️????
